Welcome, Mentors!
As the Gifted and Talented Resource Teacher at Long Reach High School, I arrange internships with professionals in the community for students enrolled in the G/T Intern/Mentor Program, a college-level course designed to empower students to contribute to the larger community by applying, creating, and evaluating knowledge in a specialized area of study. By studying off-site with a professional mentor, these advanced-level high school students have the opportunity to conduct scholarly research prior to entering college. As part of the internship, the students must complete advanced-level academic requirements including researching, writing, and presenting information about their area of study, as well as creating an authentic product that will be used by professionals at the internship site.
