1st Quarter
In the 1st Quarter, students learn effective ways to research and identify sources based on a topic of their own choosing.  This culminates in their first Annotated Source List (16 sources) due at the end of the quarter.  They will also have formed their initial hypothesis for the topic they select to research and shared that with their Mentors.

 

3rd Quarter
Students will continue the composing product with their synthesis essay due early in the 3rd Quarter.  They will also start to consider what type of original research they will be doing to supplement their research.

 

4th Quarter
At this point, students will be working on their end product.  How can they make a difference in the field they chose to research?  Who will an authentic audience be? Some students will be chosen to present at the Student Learning Conference.

 

4th Quarter Due Dates
Quarter 2

In the 2nd Quarter, students continue with their research and start to form it into an outline.  They will also begin practicing their interviewing and presenting skills by finding an advisor and presenting to a class within the school.
